MANIFESTO
There is a whole new generation of Sicilians, well educated and well travelled that have decided to return to their native island bringing in the new and mingling it with the old; hence creating an opportunity to be part of a change that gives the natives a stronger voice, an insight into innovation and a territory based co-operation approach.
What is Sustainable Sicily
Because of its un-spoilt naturalness, its wealth of historical heritage and its small enterprises, which are more often than not managed and cared for by generations of the same family; Sicily is perfectly positioned to dedicate to, and lead the way in sustainable tourism and business activity. Things are done on a small scale here and this can only mean better attention will be given to a increase of positive impacts.

Sicilians are proud of their heritage and are working honestly together to make everything possible to protect their natural environments, the wildlife and their natural resources.

Positive values and acting in coherence whilst respecting the ethos of sustainability is resulting in benefits for our local communities. It is possible to progress through good practice by enabling collaboration between regional, national and local stakeholders.

Together we can all have a deeper respect for the territory and for its future. Furthermore, network clusters are being created so that people can connect with one shared vision – to tackle the challenges we face in the light of imminent climate change, to bring visibility to the island of Sicily and to share our values with others.

People have now chosen to remote work in a rural setting, where, with good broadband connections, they can achieve simultaneous results as if they were city bound. They are conscious of the quality of life they now have, surrounded by nature and all it has to offer.
Sustainability projects will deliver more value to communities in this regard, together with their environments, their businesses and tourism opportunities.
